The Nokia 8 Sirocco launched at the high price of €750. It has come down quite a bit since then – for example, it’s €520 on Amazon.fr. It’s similarly discounted in the UK too, down to £440. But that’s not the strange part.

That’s not quite the case in India – the indicated price is lower (INR 37,000) than Flipkart’s (INR 50,000), but hitting the buy button still disappoints. It’s not a weird redirect this time, you just get “currently not available”.

So, has HMD discontinued the Sirocco? It certainly seems so. And while it’s sad to see a phone venture off into oblivion, this is the cycle of life – one phone dies, another is born.
In this case, we’re perhaps looking at the Nokia 8.1, which graced Geekbench with a Snapdragon 710 chipset. Seems a bit of a downgrade, doesn’t it? Even compared to the vanilla Nokia 8 it replaces. But the Sirocco model deserves to be swapped out for a proper flagship – like the Nokia 9 and the reborn PureView moniker.
